About Me

Background:

As a child, I was fascinated with stories. I read as many books, watched as many films, and played as many video games as I could. It was this fascination that led to me picking up a video camera during my early teens. This was a natural branch into writing, photography, and graphic design. I continued creating films into my college years and found the Digital Media Institute at Northern Oklahoma College. Once I graduated, I was in a dilemma. Pursue filmmaking? Or pursue graphic design?

Time off was needed to think long and hard about this decision, so I went to work. I did a variety of jobs such as reading water meters, working in machine shops, and even an incredibly fun job at Bath & Body Works. It was while playing a video game with some friends that I stumbled upon the idea of Architecture. This game allowed me to build structures, but had other aspects to it, such as taming creatures and exploring a vast world. A friend pointed out I never did any of those things. I was always crafting, building, and designing. The friend said, "You'd make a decent Architect."

At first, I laughed and didn't think much of my friend's comment, but the next day I began to think about it. I knew I didn't want to rush into any ideas, so I put it at the back of my mind. My friends and I continued that game on our time off, and each time I noticed I was indeed not doing any other task aside from designing our base. I started paying attention to how I played other games, and sure enough, it was the same outcome. After about a year of thinking on it, I knew it was time and I was ready to return to school and pursue a career as an Architect.
